AVMA has published a new resource for veterinarians on the status of research and regulations concerning cannabis products for animals. The resource includes topics such as manufacturing quality for cannabis products, clinical studies on their efficacy and safety in animals, information on potential adverse effects, and a summary of current regulations at federal, state, and international levels.

More details on the AVMA resource on cannabis products for pets can be read at the AVMA website. The resources themselves are also available to members here.

Additional information on the toxic effects of cannabis in animals is available in the Merck Veterinary Manual.
